A senior portrait marks a once-in-a-lifetime moment—the close of one chapter and the start of the next. Today's seniors and their families want more than a cap-and-gown headshot; they want images that feel like them, made somewhere meaningful, with the things they're proud of.
That's where we come in. It was an honor to photograph Avery's senior session, and to make it personal he wanted to feature his car—a great idea we happily ran with.
We posed him in cap and gown beside his silver Mustang on its blacked-out wheels, set against an Arizona desert hillside as the sky melted into pink and lavender at sunset. We balanced the fading natural light with our own so both Avery and the car stayed crisp, the paint held its sheen, and that incredible sky kept every bit of its color. We arrived early to scout and work the location so we were ready the instant the sky ignited—a few minutes either way and that color would have been gone—and we guided Avery through a mix of relaxed and confident poses so his family left with plenty of options, some classic and some with a little attitude to match the car.
Pulling off a frame like this—sharp subject, glowing car, and a dramatic sky, all in the few fleeting minutes good light allows—takes years of practice with light, location, and timing.
